How to Book an Appointment

- Some appointments are available to book online via Patient Access or the NHS App
We no longer book appointments at the front desk. This helps us look after the safety of patients and staff during the covid-19 pandemic
- Routine - GP & ANP appointments can be booked by telephone up to two weeks in advance. Nurse appointments can be booked by telephone up to 30 days ahead
- Same Day - Can be booked by telephone and are for medical problems that require clinical input before the next routine appointment
- Specialist - Our Navigation Team will advise if you need a specialist consultation (e.g. coil clinic, mother & baby appointments, smears, etc)
How Long is My Appointment?
- 10 (GP) or 15 minutes (Advanced Nurse Practitioner)
- Appointments are intended for 1 medical problem
- Where a translator is needed, a double appointment will be arranged
- Specialist appointments are dependent on the nature of the appointment

How to get the most out of your GP appointment

Care Navigation Team
Our Navigation Team are not medically trained but, at the request of our GPs, they will ask some questions to enable them to navigate patients to the most appropriate source of help.
Please help them to help you by providing a brief description of your concern and answering any questions they may ask. Information provided is dealt with in the strictest of confidence.
This helps us to make the best use of our resources and ensure that patients;
- receive the most appropriate care
- from the most appropriate health care professional
- at the most appropriate time
Community Pharmacy Consultations
When you call the surgery, our care navigators book you in to see the most appropriate member of the multidisciplinary team. To optimise patient experience and ensure that everyone gets the care that they need, our care navigators will direct appropriate patients to the community pharmacist.
What is an NHS Community Pharmacist Consultation?
- It’s a consultation with a fully qualified pharmacist at a local pharmacy.
- It involves a clinical assessment and conversation with the pharmacist. This will be in the privacy of a consultation room.
How can the pharmacist help?
- The pharmacist has the right clinical training to assess you and recommend the best treatment for some common conditions.
- If your symptoms suggest it’s more serious, the pharmacist will help you to get an urgent GP appointment if needed.
- If you don’t need any treatment the pharmacist will be able to provide reassurance. For instance, a minor illness may get better on its own.
- To help with symptoms, the pharmacist may offer to sell you an over-the-counter medicine.
What happens next?
- The pharmacist will make a record of the outcome and send it to your GP.
What training does the pharmacist have?
- Every pharmacist is trained for five years in the use of medicines, managing minor illnesses and providing health and wellbeing advice, so they are the right person to see.
